Westmont is a village nestled in southeastern DuPont County, encompassing a total area of approximately 5 square miles. The village is located around 18 miles west of the Chicago Loop and is currently home to a population of more than 24,000 residents.

The area known as Westmont today was originally inhabited by Potawatomi Native Americans in the early 1800s. The Potawatomi established a system of trails which eventually served as the first highways used by the settlers. Among these trails was the Buffalo Trail, known today as Naperville Road, the current stage line between Naperville and Chicago.
